“Red Green Construction” is another take in Ray Katz’s ongoing series of works in color. Katz mixes shapes and color to uncover the message the elements can convey together which they do not express alone. The candy like red and green sticks, the jaunty green diamonds, and the yellow and purple blocks are messily combined to create a fabulous, childlike scene which would not be detectable if the pieces were orderly disassembled.

Ray Katz sees his work as depicting rhythm, movement, and action. In “Red Green Construction” he uses his own method of disorganization to combine colors and shapes in the same way a dancer combines rhythm, movement and action to produce something cohesive and original. Katz’s works in color demonstrate that the sum is often greater than its parts.
