Andrew Arvanetes uses many different materials in his work including stainless steel, bronze, mild steel, and wood. For “High Rise” he chose to work with stainless steel.
“High Rise” is a perfect sculpture for those living and working alongside it in the city. It is a sculpture that the local residents can truly relate to and yet it will still make them consider its deeper meaning.
The viewer’s interpretation may not be exactly the same as Arvanetes’ intended message but what is more important is that they feel a connection to it based on their own experiences. Arvanetes uses mechanical and architectural detailing to communicate his message. These details combine with certain characteristics to create the visual aesthetic.
