Shencheng Xu has studied art in Luxun, China and Baltimore, Maryland and he continues to exhibit his art in the U.S. and China. His sculptures often consider the differences between East and West. However, Xu considers his work and its subject matter to be in constant evolution.

Xu’s most recent work, “Clouds”, confronts the synthesis and retention of ideas. The cloud is a spontaneous and ephemeral creation but for Xu it represents imagination, thought, and now, in the digital age, the storage of ideas. Xu’s simple black and white sculpture creates permanent, fiberglass, artificial clouds. Though the clouds are fake, they still cast real shadows and create a truly good place to sit and think of new ideas.
