Shencheng Xu received his BFA in Sculpture from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts China and his MFA in Sculpture from Maryland Institute College of Art’s Rinehart School of Sculpture. He uses traditional and contemporary media and techniques to create sculptures located in the U.S. and China.

“Fly” is directly linked to Xu’s life experience. He draws inspiration from the world he lives in, his responses to it, and insights he gains from it. Xu uses traditional techniques to address contemporary issues and combines human forms with other organic forms to express the relationship between nature and man. His work also considers the differences between East and West, as well as the differences between traditional and contemporary art.
