Shencheng Xu is a Chinese born artist who received his BFA in Sculpture from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in China. Later he moved to the United States where he received his MFA in Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art’s Rinehart School of Sculpture. Xu views his works as an exploration of the differences between Eastern and Western culture. More frequently than not, his works depict those themes which are still universal to the human experience.

“Dream Seeker” features the creature found in many of Shencheng’s pieces, this time tilting its face hopefully and sublimely toward the sky. Atop the winding ladder, the titular “Dream Seeker” embodies the comfort found only in the souls of those who dream, be they Chinese or American.
