Michael Grucza received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and has exhibited his work throughout the U.S. Grucza’s own studio specializes in 20th century sculpture and architectural artifact restoration.
“A House for Sandy” exhibits Grucza’s goal of creating sculptures that are able to engage viewers and invite them to interact with the art. At eight feet tall, this sculpture encourages people to experience the piece from many perspectives and see their surroundings from a new vantage point. The impulse and time it takes to interact with a piece can change a person’s state of mind, if just for a minute. Grucza seeks to incorporate humor and a sense of play into his work and believes that these can draw something unique and introspective from each of us.
