Seyfarth gained national recognition due to her skill as a potter. She has worked as a professional artist for over 20 years. Her knowledge of ceramics led her to a commissionwith the Greek government at an archeological excavation. Her articles on Medieval Byzantine functional pottery were published internationally. She is a craftsman, inspired by history with a classical aesthetic.

Mary has created a series of portraits of her foot. Her sculptures have been cast in terra cotta, bronze and concrete. They are all the same foot, yet each piece is unique. The naked foot taking a step is an optimistic message. It is assertive, healthy, in motion and forward looking. It is boldly walking into the future.
