Kearney studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and in Rome on a Fulbright Award. He was also a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. His welded steel sculptures have been a staple in Chicago for many years, featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Oz Park, and Field Museum. Kearney’s pieces are uniquely created from automobile bumpers or bronze and are fashioned into animals and other figurative forms. He is a founder and the president of Contemporary Art Workshop located in Lincoln Park.
