Joey Manson holds a faculty position as an art teacher at Clemson University. Manson teaches a first year seminar for undergraduates as well as a senior seminar course for students in their final year, a veritable collegiate cradle and grave art educator. Manson has traveled extensively, working and living throughout the world, but ultimately he has ended up back at his beginnings in South Carolina.

Manson creates large works which utilize heavy-duty materials. His present work, “Specimen”, is a steel, concrete and cast bronze creation. In “Specimen” Manson gathers various shapes around one central form. The desired effect is to create a biological appearance. The steel triangles, webbing, and round bronze forms invoke the beauty and variety of nature.
