Jason Verbeek is an expert welder and fabricator whose craft has expanded while working for an ecological excavating company.
By utilizing earthy colors and reclaimed materials Verbeek is able to create man-made objects that blend into and compliment the natural environments in which they are placed.
Verbeek’s “Meadow Stick” totem is affixed with staggered tubes that stick out from its sides of the tall statue like steel needles on a cactus. The extending tubes stand next to each other arranged by height like those of a church’s pipe organ or a pan flute. This wedding of environmental and musical symbolism makes “Meadow Stick” a successful homage to art in nature.
