Jaci Willis joins the CSE family from her base in Peoria. A graduate of Bradley University with a MFA in sculpture, she currently teaches 2D and 3D classes at Bradley and works on public art commissions in her spare time.
In “Torn Muse”, Jaci incorporates the Mandorla, an Italian word for almond – recognizing the shape, and an ancient symbol of wholeness or creative force.
The various sizes reflect the generations of women that have influence on us today. The circles containing the glass are used as feminine symbols for consecrated spaces in our life. In this sculpture the conflict stands between gaining freedom and losing security. These moments cause us to reflect and regain strength from women of our past.
