DUSTY FOLWARCZNY

TITLE: Nudge

LOCATION: 758 W. Belden

SIZE: 6’ x 5’ 5” x 3’

MATERIALS: Salvaged Steel & Polymer

SPONSOR: DePaul University

Dusty Folwarczny’s upbringing gave her an early connection to nature and organic forms. She often explores the tension between heavy metal, gravity, and balance. Much of her work, including “Nudge,” is made of salvaged steel. There is a part of her that is drawn to making art out of salvaged steel. She attributes this to the raw textured surface, the beautiful oranges in the rust, the strength of the material, and her father’s steel company.

“Nudge” gets its title from the little signs, feelings or whispers you get from the universe to do something. The color shows a stark contrast in the forms as they interact with one another, balancing one another.
