Brown appreciates stone for its many qualities. He notes that stone is “plentiful, durable, and beautiful. It has abundant variation of color, texture and density.” His description continues, warmly noting that stone responds to shaping. Floating Wall is his first large stone sculpture to explore a horizontal form. It is to be viewed at eye level. The relief carvings are more fluid than his previous works and are more consistent with the horizontal nature.

Mike Brown received a MFA from The Rhode Island School of Design. He developed the sculpture, three dimensional design and ceramics programs at W.R. Harper College. He has participated in exhibits throughout the Midwest. His work is on display in many public and private collections.
