TODD WILLING

TITLE: Mesa

LOCATION: Clark and Aldine

SIZE: 7’ x 18” x 6”

MATERIALS: Stainless Steel

SPONSOR: Central Lake View Merchants

Willing discovered welding through his work repairing industrial incinerators. Over his lunch breaks he practiced sculpting by experimenting with scrap metal. The fruits of his practice are on display in “Mesa.”

Willing believes creating art is a good way to explore one’s mind. If that is the case then in “Mesa” Willing may have discovered more than one facet of his mind. This steel sculpture depicts three distinct characters reaching upward and supporting each other. Each charming, all three characters represent clearly different personalities. Willing’s welding talent brings these motley steel characters to life; crafting them individually as humorous, charismatic, and enterprising personas.
