Mike Helbing creates sculptures that delight. In “My Place” he uses steel rods to erect a house. “Weird housing, intentionally crooked,” is his own description. Old buildings settle and have character, except this is new and it curves. There are no right angles or straight lines. You walk right in and feel the space, you can look out the window and dream. This is your place while you visit. It’s not a glass house, but you’ll have that same feeling. Helbing seeks to convey a personal understanding of the human place in the natural order of things through his works.

Mike Helbing grew up in the Midwest. His works are on exhibit throughout the U.S. and Canada. He is a member artist, board member and curator at the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum.
