DUSTY FOLWARCZNY

TITLE: Five

LOCATION: Irving Park and Seminary - Ann Sather Park

SIZE: 9’ x 4’ x 4’

MATERIALS: Recycled Steel

SPONSOR: Alderman Tom Tunney

Folwarczny was destined to love steel. Her father owned a steel company and it was in his yards that she discovered her appreciation for the raw textured surfaces and the beautiful orange hues of rust.

“Five,” a seemingly precarious yet dauntingly sturdy tower of rings, continues Folwarczny’s practice of creating sculptures that hold an artistic elegance while maintaining industrial integrity. She has always marveled at the power of public art to affect its environment and so she sculpts pieces that compel the viewers to see their surroundings differently.
